A baby's first Christmas is something truly special. Everything feels a little new, for the grown-ups too. The candles, the branches in the vase and the little parcels suddenly become things you experience together for the first time.
Here are our favourite ideas for a calm and cosy Advent with the little ones – from small Sunday rituals to warm details and gifts that make sense.
Baby's first Christmas
A baby won't remember their first Christmas. But you will. So it's less about doing it all and more about creating small moments you'll want to repeat.
Keep the days simple. Babies love the familiar, so the same candle on the table, the same carol or a little visit to the Christmas tree every morning can be enough.

Small rituals every Sunday in Advent
The four Sundays of Advent are a lovely rhythm to build traditions around. Light a candle, make a cup of hot chocolate for the grown-ups and let the little one join in.
An Advent calendar for baby fits that rhythm perfectly. Ours has four small parcels – one for each Sunday in Advent – each with a little gift for babies aged 0–18 months. All four gifts are in the same colour, either Cortado or Mocca, and what's inside is a surprise.
The parcels can be hung up or set out, so they become part of your Christmas decorations until it's time to open them. See everything for the season under Christmas.

Warm details: socks and scarves
December is cold, and little feet and necks get chilly quickly. This is where the small details make a difference – for warmth and for the whole look.
Our cable-knit socks are hand-picked by us and come in brown and cream. They look lovely under both trousers and skirts.
A soft cotton scarf is the little detail that finishes a festive outfit. The Cortado scarf and Mocca scarf are sewn in Denmark from 100% cotton and match the Cortado trousers and Mocca trousers in their matching checks.

Calm colours for your decorations
Christmas decorations don't have to be red and green. Warm browns, cream and checks create a calm feeling that stays cosy all December – without overwhelming the little ones.
Try checked bows on the branches, a white ruffle ribbon around the tree and a checked blanket beneath it. White parcels with black ribbons look beautiful for weeks before they're opened.

Gift ideas for the little ones
The best gifts for a baby are the ones that get used. Think of things that follow the child through everyday life and can be passed on.
A few ideas: a reversible Cortado bib with checked cotton on one side and soft velour on the other, a Cortado dummy clip or a scarf in the same colour. If in doubt, a gift card is always a good choice.

Happy Advent – we hope you have a calm and cosy time together.
